In 2004, renowned visual artist and educator Saumen Das envisioned an academy where the rigorous discipline of classical academic art would seamlessly blend with the boundless freedom of individual creative expression. Alongside master educator Dipika Karmakar Das, Ankantirtho was established in Tarakeswar.
Over the past two decades, what started as a passionate atelier has blossomed into one of Bengal's most respected visual arts institutions, training over 1,500 students ranging from 4-year-old child prodigies to senior fine arts diploma holders.
A balanced pedagogy designed to develop technical virtuosity alongside artistic individuality.
Rigorous training rooted in the pedagogy of Government College of Art & Craft: perspective, anatomy, structural sketching, and tone.
Comprehensive exploration of watercolor wash, oil painting, soft pastel, acrylics, and Bengal terracotta clay sculpture.
Graded annual examinations and certified fine art diplomas recognized across institutions and competitive academic admissions.
Every student showcases their masterpieces in public gallery exhibitions, our annual Chobimela, and cultural art fairs.
At Ankantirtho, learning isn't confined within four walls. Our calendar is alive with plein-air outdoor landscape excursions, seasonal watercolor workshops, and our signature Chobimela (ছবিমেলা) festival where young artists present their work before seasoned art critics and connoisseurs.
Witness student accomplishments, behind-the-scenes studio sessions, and photo galleries from recent events:
